Vyselock

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

Vyselock is a self-control tool. It helps you stay off distracting and adult content and keep to the focus commitments you set for yourself. This policy explains exactly what the Vyselock browser extension accesses and what happens to that information.

The short version: your browsing and everything Vyselock sees on your screen stays on your own device. Vyselock never uploads, sells, or shares it. The only information that ever leaves your device is a subscription licence check, and only once you're on a paid plan.

What the extension accesses, and why

Where your information goes

Nowhere off your device. Vyselock has no cloud service that receives your activity. The only thing the extension talks to is the Vyselock helper program running on your own computer at the local loopback address 127.0.0.1 (an address that never leaves the machine). That local helper stores your streak, reasons, and block schedule in files on your own disk.

Vyselock does not:

Subscriptions and licence validation

During the initial pilot, Vyselock is free and performs no licence check at all, so nothing whatsoever leaves your device.

After the pilot, Vyselock is offered on a paid basis (monthly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime licence). To confirm that a subscription is active, the app validates your licence. That validation transmits only your licence key and an anonymous device identifier to our payment provider. It never sends your browsing history, page content, or any record of what you looked at. Billing itself (your card details, name, invoices) is handled entirely by the payment provider under their privacy policy; Vyselock never sees or stores your payment details.

A lifetime licence is validated the same way but does not expire.

Data retention and control

All Vyselock data lives on your device. Removing the Vyselock application and extension removes it. There is nothing on our side to delete, because we never receive it.

Permissions, in plain terms

Children

Vyselock is intended for adults setting limits for themselves.
